Letting employees work from home has its pros and cons and is not for all companies. But, many companies can benefit from letting at least some of their employees telecommute, either all of the time or part of the time. Continue reading Telecommuting Benefits Companies Too

Just wanted to do a quick follow-up to my original post on XFactor’s MicroNiche Adsense Course to say how things were going. So far, I have built 19 of these web sites. Six of them were just built this week, so they aren’t doing anything for me yet. They aren’t even indexed and that’s fine because I haven’t really finished putting in content yet. But the other 13 sites have been up for anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. From these sites, I’m averaging $1.23 a day in Adsense money. Now, I realize I’m not getting rich yet. But considering the short amount of time I’ve had the sites up, and also considering that I’ve not even begun to scratch the surface with my backlinking efforts, I am pretty pleased. Some days I may not get any clicks at all and some days I see as much as $5. But it averages out to $1.23 a day.
In the course, article marketing is definitely touted as the primary way to earn backlinks. He spells out some very aggressive article marketing techniques. I will be honest and say I have not done anywhere near as much of this as he says we need to do. I have been doing article marketing, just on a much smaller scale. I generally just do one or two articles per web site.
Even without doing the amount of article marketing he recommends, every single one of the 13 sites that have been up for at least 2 weeks are ranked in the top 20 on Google for their main keyword. Most of them are hovering at around #9 or #10. My highest is ranked at #6 and my lowest is ranked at #18. Now I need to push them up higher. And I think increasing my backlinking efforts will do it.
My goal is to make a minimum of $100 a day with these sites. I think I will probably need at least 100 of these niche sites to get there, but maybe not. I am doing better with my keyword research now and I think this new set of 6 sites I just launched a couple of days ago may do better than the first set of 13 simply because I found better niches. But we’ll see. As always, I’ll report back in a few weeks with my results.

For people with decent writing skills, there are some places on the web where you can get professional writing experience and get paid for it. The pay for some of these jobs is pretty decent. It’s not as good as it would be if you were getting your own clients, but it’s still a good way to make some extra money without having to find or deal with clients.
One of the places where I get some freelance writing work is called Demand Studios. They have a ton of writing work available if you are accepted as a writer. The pay varies from $3 to $20 per writing piece with most paying either $7.50 for 150-200 words or $15 for 400-500 words. The editors are picky. You have to do research for these articles and you have to write well. And even when you do those things, you still may get an editor that doesn’t like your work and either rejects it outright or makes you do revisions.
But if you can handle the critiques and can get efficient with your research and writing, you can make decent money. Some people work there full time and make $3000 a month or more. They are also getting ready to offer health insurance to freelancers who’ve average 30 articles a month for the last 3 months. I don’t have details about it yet, but it sounds like a good deal.
They are also hiring Copy Editors and Film Makers at the time of this blog post. But Copy Editors have to have significant professional editing experience. And I think Film Makers do too. If you want to write, you will need some writing samples and a resume. Make sure your resume highlights your writing experience, even if it was just something you did occasionally at your last day job.
There are certainly critics of Demand Studios and many of their complaints are valid. I don’t like everything about them either. But I’m glad to have them available to me for some extra money each month. No job is perfect. But this is not a terrible way to make some cash.
